In Africa, a good percentage of children manage to have a chance to go school but gain knowledge based on passing exams rather than applying in real life situations.
It’s so obvious most of us use the public means of transport most times. It’s the most available and somewhat reliable if you don’t have a personal car or rather if you do but you don’t feel like using it.
However, some of us don’t get to realize that they don’t own the PSV, they seat as if they own the whole of it and with no respect for the person seated right beside them.
Most are the time when I get into a PSV, and before I decide where I’ll seat, I have to survey property to ensure I seat somewhere where I’ll be comfortable irregardless how long or short the journey will be.
I always ensure am seated next to someone who’s clean, seated with all their hands to themselves and not spreading them all over the place. Not spreading their legs, and texting thinking you’re snooping on their texts or whatever business they’re handling with their phones.
Not everyone is suitable to seat beside. Others are always fresh from smoking and the stench kills you while it’s early in the morning. Am sure am not the only one who loves peaceful mornings. Most of us do. Sitting besides someone who’s sweaty in the morning can just kill your vibe for the whole day, but if it’s on a Monday, your bad! Your week could just be messed up all the same!
There’s nothing as important as personal hygiene. It does not only benefit you, but also those around you. Doesn’t it just feel great to smell good and feel good about yourself? The confidence when you’re around other people, you’re comfortable in your own skin and not scared to be around other people.
All in all, we have to know that we don’t own PSVs and that each and everyone who boards them deserve to have equal space and to be comfortable until their destination.
Create that atmosphere that everyone wants to seat next to you since you’re clean and friendly. Don’t go ahead touching someone against their will making them uncomfortable and uneasy. That’s just too immature.
In short, let’s maintain respect and recognize that we are not the owners of the PSVs.
Kenya is my motherland,
Africa is my fatherland,
Am a black girl,
But I like white people too,
Black girls rock, white girls rocks, Indian girls and Asian girls at large rock as well,
What the hell is racism? We’re all made with one God,
Christian,Muslim, any region doesn’t matter, we all worship one God,
We ought to love each other just like we’re a family,
Male or female it makes no difference,
We’re all equal with equal rights,
What happened to peace, love, unity and harmony?
Instead we harm each other with cases of racism, tribalism, terrorism, discrimination,
These leads to poverty, political instability, corruption, prostitution, and low income generating,
We ought to hold hands, respect each other’s decisions, religion, dreams, ambitions, race and even tribes,
I believe in love, peace, unity, peace and strength in togetherness!
This was meant to be lyrics to my song, but it’s also fit to be here!
